![]() XCW's New Play By Play Announcer! Latest News Last CallTexas Dream Match Ends With Violence and Victory It was a match that people all over Texas wanted to book for the past 3 years. As Scott Phoenix faced being forced from the ring he loves due to a variety of serious injuries, it finally happened at the eleventh hour. Already at an advantage due to Phoenix's injuries, especially following the 11 foot fall just one week prior to the match, Necro Butcher decided to bring in a specialty of his own. Earning a repuation on the East Coast for being the best in the business under such conditions, Necro brought light tubes into the bout, a first for XCW as well as Phoenix, who earned his reputation for excelling in barbed wire matches, but never in conditions such as these. Necro controlled much of the early point in the match, as Phoenix's injuries made it difficult to even climb into the ring, much less hold up to such odds. Phoenix, however, did manage to battle back, and took Necro's own tubes against him, even dragging him through the remnants of the bulbs. When Necro regained control, it seemed a stretcher was in Phoenix's future. A big backdrop on the stage appeared to finish off what was left of the Kingpin's badly injured spine. Necro went to set up a horrid end to Phoenix, who somehow managed to get back to the ring. Phoenix blocked Necro Butcher's attempts to finish him off and went for the chokeslam. Butcher had this well scouted, and blocked Phoenix's first two attempts at the finisher. Third time was the charm, though, as Phoenix dodged a clothesline and chokeslammed Necro through a stack of light tubes for the win. Following the match, Phoenix struggled to his feet and he and Necro Butcher shook hands. Then, surrounded by several of his friends, such as Jack Drastic, Jacob Ladder, Sidd Murder, Dave the Rave, Spudz McKenzie, and others, Phoenix announced that the reaction from the fans toward his retirement had touched him in ways he'd never known, ending his promo with the promise that "the Phoenix will rise again." Check the newly updated Commentary section for a full write up on the possibility of a comeback attempt. Screw Tradition Phoenix Defies Death and Calls For One More Announced as Scott Phoenix's last match, the Kingpin walked to the ring on Friday, June 17 with his old friend the Necro Butcher to take on Hotstuff Hernandez and Hugh Rogue. As violent as the match was expected to be, it was even more violent than people had anticipated. The fans brought many weapons, many of the arena's chairs were destroyed, and falls to the floor were common. At one point, referee Larry Wade was destroyed, but Phoenix had a back-up plan, as Drunk Adam came out with a referee shirt on to take over those duties. With Necro laid out, Hernandez and Rogue began to double team the already badly injured Phoenix. With bad discs in his neck and back and a blown out shoulder, they tried to finish it with a double suplex off the top rope, but Phoenix managed to kick out. Rogue went for his top rope senton, and Phoenix showed some life by moving out of the way. Nobody expected what followed. Hernandez hoisted Phoenix up for his devestating Hotbomb. This move has finished off opponents worldwide and certainly spelled doom for Phoenix if he went across the ring with it. Instead, though, Phoenix was tossed over the top rope and out of the ring, hitting neck first through a barbed wire board set up by chairs outside the ring, becoming entangled and hitting the floor. Phoenix was certanly doomed, but the count was broken up at two by Necro Butcher. Butcher took out Rogue and then began to brawl with Hernandez. Phoenix, unable to move from the neck down, asked a security guard to throw his arm over Rogue. Referee Drunk Adam counted to three and declared Phoenix and Necro the winners. Several moments passed before Phoenix moved again. The feeling eventually returned and he was helped to his feet. Instead of letting them carry him out, though, Phoenix began shoving the security guards around and walking back into the ring, where Necro and Adam raised his hands. Then came the cheap shot. Necro Butcher suddenly turned on Phoenix and laid him out, calling him weak and pathetic. Once the Butcher left the ring, Phoenix was helped into a sitting position by security, and cut what was supposed to be his retirement promo. Instead, he challenged Necro Butcher to a one-on-one match this coming Friday, even if he has to be carried to the ring to make it. This Friday night at the XCW Arena will see the Texas Dream Match of 2005, as Scott Phoenix goes one-on-one with the Necro Butcher. The condition of Phoenix going into this match is unknown, and we will bring you any word we can on it if we find out ahead of time. |
